me ready for trouble
My earliest recollections?

I suppose, like most children, my earliest memories of childhood are times of fun. All I wanted to do was to have fun. When I look back, certain aspects of me stand out from the norm.

I always wanted to be outside but, not only to play. I wanted to find new things to see and smell. Yes…smell! I had a fascination (still do) with how all the different things around me have their own particular smell, and how these things smelt different on different days. I had the same thoughts in regard to shape and color. I could sit and stare at something for ages, observing how the colors of objects changed according to what was happening in the sky!

Basically, I think I lived in a dream world. I was never worried about this. Although I had friends, if I was on my own, I never felt lonely - I had a massive world of objects to look at, and couldn’t wait to discover new things in the world outside.

In my first years at school, boy did I have fun! I could not believe you went to school to learn to paint! I could now put down on paper everything I had seen. Not only that, I soon realised that painting was a new world in which I could lose myself. I now had the smell of paints, and the discovery that I had the power to change the shape and colors of objects. My brain was my new sky.
